WONDERAMA!!!
I did a shoot with Donnie and Marie Osmond, and their nephew David for a kids' show called “Wonderama."
Bob Conover, George Schak and Kevin Roche setting up for the three camera shoot at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
It's an old show, but I guess David is the new host. He was nice. He interviewed his aunt and uncle, and then they sang a song together that David had written. Donnie learned it with David just before we did the shoot. Say what you want about kitchiness, they were all consummate professionals and it was a pleasure to watch them work. Yeah you can quote me on that. :)
MacGyver-ing
Thanks to Tim at Rule who drilled and tapped an extra screw hole for my Edelkrone slider yesterday, just in time to shoot 8 interviews with it today!
That's better!
For some reason Edelkrone only makes this model with one 3/8" hole in the bottom to mount it on your tripod. It sorely needs a second one (a 1/4" 20) so that it can hold the camera without coming loose from the torque caused by the weight of the camera.
MARATHON: The Patriots Day Bombing
If you have HBO, check out "MARATHON: The Patriots Day Bombing." A film I worked on with DP Austin de Besche, Susan Bryant, and Daniel Jacobs. It begins airing tonight! http://www.hbo.com/documentaries/marathon-the-patriots-day-bombing
My girlfriend, Nancy, and I saw the premiere at the Shubert here in Boston. I'm proud to have worked on it.
Selfie
Ticket.
The beautiful Shubert.
Ethics
Learning about the ethics of kidney exchanges and dwarf tossing (I'm not making that up) at Harvard Business School.
Yo-Yo Ma
At the New England Conservatory with Productive Media recording Yo-Yo Ma give a master class to cellists.
Multiple
Spend the day doing multiple two camera interviews with soundperson extraordinaire, Susan Bryant. :-)
I bought this monitor because its the sharpest one I know (plus its an OLED and very pretty). I needed one I could judge focus on when shooting wide open on primes. It's worked out nicely, as you can see.
Busy Week!
Normally, August is pretty slow in the Boston area, but I was kept pretty busy this week.
Normally, August is pretty slow in the Boston area, but I was kept pretty busy this week.
Here I was shooting the Total Store Expo on the 7th.
On the 8th, I was waiting for Steven Tyler to appear. Did we maybe need a little more fog? His new album is country-western(!), and we got to see a sneak preview!
At Welsh's, on the 9th, I got to use my cool Edelkrone SliderPlus to shoot a new kind of product they’re making to be featured on Innovations, a Discovery Channel show. We also shot some interviews.
On the 10th, I shot a professor from Northeastern University for a story about the history of presidential debates to be featured on the New York Times' Retro Report. I’ve worked on several films for them. The rainy day clouds made for a nice, soft key light.
And on the 11th, I had fun with green screens at the Fix Your Funnel convention at the BCEC. I was very glad to be shooting inside of an overly air-conditioned convention center on a day when the heat index was over 100 degrees F outside!
I'm very happy to be heading to Martha's Vineyard for the weekend. ;-)
Extraordinary People
Great shoot for the BBC of the series Extraordinary People at Suffolk University.
Breaking News!
I always enjoy being part of breaking news frenzy!
Here I was shooting David Gergen's analysis of President Obama's endorsement of Hillary Clinton for CNN.
That's the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University on the screen behind him, which is where he teaches. We actually shot in a studio at Pulse Media, Inc. in Watertown, MA. The magic of television!
Shooting at MIT for ITN with Janet Wu
Great days of shooting at MIT for ITN with Janet Wu and Daniel Jacobs.
Thanks to Daniel for the photos, lugging gear, and especially for taking care of that loud air vent in the ceiling (look carefully and you'll see it)! 😀
Fuel Up to Play 60 Promo Shoot
On November 2nd, I worked on a promo for Fuel Up to Play 60, a program created by a partnership between the NFL and the National Dairy Council.
Yay milk!
I got to shoot the really nice Devin McCourty, of the New England Patriots, while he goofed around with students at the Edward A. Ricci Middle School in North Providence, RI.
It was a fun day. You can read more about it in this piece on the Patriots' website:
Devin McCourty and Providence students promote healthy lifestyles
Here are some shots of me in action, taken by Fritz Gerald Ceriales:
Special Flight for Marathon Bombing Survivors
I've been working with Break Thru Films on an HBO documentary about the Marathon bombing, so when survivors Celeste & Sydney Corcoran were invited by Air National Guard Lt. Col. John Klatt to take a special flight with the National Guard, I was lucky enough to be brought along to film the excitement.
Boston Globe staff photographer, John Tlumacki, got some great shots of the event. Among these were a few of me filming, which I thought I would pass along here.
I love my job.
Covering the Tsarnaev Trial
I've spent several days over the course of the last couple of months shooting the scene outside the Moakley Courthouse, including some live shots for NBC affiliates across the harbor at the Boston Harbor Hotel (it has excellent views).
I shot outside the courthouse for a documentary being made for HBO by Break Thru Films about the Marathon bombings.
It's been interesting work.
Marathon Day
I've been working on a Break Thru Films documentary about the Marathon bombings they've been making for HBO. In these photos you see me shooting at the finish line at this year's Marathon.
Super Bowl Victory Parade!!!
I was thrilled to be hired by the Patriots to ride a Duck Boat in the 2015 Super Bowl Victory Parade, and shoot the action as we rolled through the snowy (VERY SNOWY) streets of Boston. My boat was the front boat, and I spent most of the shoot standing next to Tom Brady.
There was a lot of excitement directed his way, as you might imagine, so being next to him was pretty fun.
And everyone I know saw me, whether they were at the parade, or watching on TV. Some of them snapped some pictures.
